A ética da pesquisa na Internet envolve a ética de pesquisa das ciências sociais, humanidades e pesquisas científicas realizadas pela Internet.

De particular interesse é o exemplo da Wikipedia inglesa e ética em pesquisa. A visão usual é que os espaços públicos e privados ficam embaçados na internet. Existem várias objeções a essa postura, todas relevantes para a pesquisa da Wikipedia em inglês. Em particular, pode ser difícil para os pesquisadores garantir o anonimato dos participantes. Um estudo de 112 trabalhos de pesquisa em tecnologia educacional publicada foi capaz de identificar identidades de participantes em 10 desses trabalhos; A maioria desses estudos reuniu esses dados em condições de anonimato.

Uma avaliação da ética em pesquisas baseadas na Internet, juntamente com algumas recomendações, foi preparada por um comitê de trabalho do Painel Consultivo para Interagências sobre Ética em Pesquisa (PRE) no Canadá. Pre é um corpo de especialistas externos criados em novembro de 2001 por três agências de pesquisa canadenses -os Institutos Canadenses de Pesquisa em Saúde (CIHR), o Conselho de Pesquisa em Ciências Naturais e Engenharia (NSERC) e o Conselho de Pesquisa em Ciências Sociais e Humanidades (SSHRC) - Para apoiar o desenvolvimento e a evolução de sua política de ética em pesquisa conjunta, a Declaração de Política de Tri-Conselho: Conduta ética para pesquisas envolvendo seres humanos [Link Dead] (TCPs).
